I missed the last two days, to make up for that I tired something different. I used a random word generator and got these two words nonspeaking and metempsychosis and drew from them. Still did my warm up and got to practice foreshortening in the second sketch. It was a bit out of my comfort zone and I'm thinking about carrying the metempsyhosis image to a final illustration.

Sketch a Day
Been a long time, (a really long time) since I've posted anything here. So I decided to join a group of people from Link in who are doing a drawing a day or week, for whatever purpose. Generally I draw everyday, I just don't post very often. So I'm combining the two to help motivate myself to be more active on the Internet, meet new people and hopefully inspire others to do the same.
As for my drawings, they're more of sketches/warm ups I do. Most of the time I'll copy from George B. Bridgman Constructive Anatomy book. I prefer doing this because I don't have to think too hard about what I'm drawing and it's a wonderful way to warm up and practice your anatomy. Right now I'm finishing up the arms then I'll be moving onto the shoulder and armpit.
I won't be posting these types of sketches all the time, every once in a while I post some work in progress and some finished pieces.

Soul Cleaver Process and Final
I finally got to draw something for myself. This is to get me back in the mood of comics. Also it's a reminder that I need to work on backgrounds. This is a new style for me with thicker line art, more american style.
Story behind this, I started it at my friend's dorm room, hadn't a clue what I was going to do and this is what turned out, a witch who cleaves other people's soul for power. I just really wanted to do special effects with her which happened to be a pain cuz white gel pens hate me, so I resorted to acrylic paint for the highlights.
This is all done traditional using 2b mechanical pencil, ink with brush and dip pens, rapido pen, copic markers, white acrylic paint and a gold gel pen.

Quick Drawing Process and Some News
Thought I should post something since it's been so long. Something quick.
Sorry but's just my drawing process and not the colors. It's Amy from my webcomic Blue Skies and White Clouds.
Speaking of which, I haven't drawn anything for that comic in over a few months; school and work got the better of me. And now looking back at it and after showing my teacher, I see many problems with it. So I'm gonna hold off on it (again) cause it's important to me to get it just right and enjoy it. And I think I can make it so much better.
Also I've got an idea for a graphic novel. I'll try and post some things and process of it soon. And while I'm working on this one, I be tweeking and re-drawing Blue Skies and White Clouds

Just some Work
I thought I'd show some progress on how I do a small piece of work. It's done in prisma color liners, copic markers and gel pens. I used the gel pens for white highlights and the pollen in the middle of the flowers.
Here it is from pencil to line art to finished.
Amy's Flower Portrait. (Straight and to the point XD )
Sorry but the first two aren't the best, I took them with my camera instead of scanning them in. This is Amy from my webcomic. She wasn't meant to look so much like me. I guess when I created her (I was around 13-14) I was tired of all the heroines being blued eyed and blonde haired that was ridiculously long, or some other random color. So I created a girl with brown eyes and brown shoulder length hair. Now I think about it that probly describes alot of people.
Uh, copy right laws: Do not use any of my work without asking me. If used must be fully cited (i.e. Artist, Title, date it was created and link back to site where it was found) and the link must be given to me so I can see it and post it on here. Other than that I'm easy going.
Maybe next time I'll post my progress of the pencil stage or the coloring stage. Depends on what some people want and if I have time before school starts.

Getting Started
This is my first time blogging; I'm really just hoping to make a bunch of people happy by looking at my art work and becoming a better artist.
A few things about me:
With that being said, I have started my own comic at Smackjeevs here. It’s something that I started when I was 13-14ish. I held off on it for a while until I began college and now I’m redrawing it with all the new skills I’ve acquired since I started attending my art college.
Here’s a description of the story.
Kacey Turow, the infamous Azure Bandit, has made his way to the small village built around the large black obelisk. He has just stolen a cursed orb from a powerful sorceress. It was to lead him to the obelisk’s treasure but it has other things in mind for Kacey.
563 years later, Amy Karlagen is staying in the rural town Hopskin with her grandmother; this will be her last summer there before she is shipped off to a university by her parents. She only has a couple of choices. She could make it the best summer possible and cram everything imaginable in, but in the end would have to say good bye to everyone and still be miserable.
Or she could leave everything she knows and loves behind, all for that one special thing, the one thing that would make her life complete. Her life is about to be intertwined in an unimaginable way with the man who left everything behind for his personal legend.
Will these two achieve their dreams … or die trying? With the help of friends and a little bit of faith in each other, these two will embark on an adventure that has no bounds and will push them to their breaking point.
A few things about me:
1) I do use the internet quite a bit for music, research and random web surfing, but for some reason I’m hardly on Facebook, DA (deviant art) etc. all those sites you post stuff at, like this one. But I plan to change that with Blogspot. Since it lets you have more freedom, I really want to promote myself as an artist and help others with their art.
2) The genre and style of my art is a bit hard to describe except for the generic term of fantasy. I draw cartoony and realistic people, places and things. I use all sorts of mediums but my favorites are pen and ink, screentones and markers. Since I’m still developing in my art, my style will change and I’ll experiment with different mediums.
3) I love comics; I read both manga and recently American. I think they’re both great. The anime shows like Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing and Rurouni Kenshin inspired me to be a comic book artist. Also the good old super heroes, Batman, The Flash, Wonderwomen and especially Superman made a huge impact on me. Even though I just got into the American comics, those guys have always had a special place in my heart since childhood. I practice a lot in hopes of one day of being able to draw Superman for DC comics. He’s my hero. Lol
