Getting Started

This is my first time blogging; I'm really just hoping to make a bunch of people happy by looking at my art work and becoming a better artist.

A few things about me:

1)  I do use the internet quite a bit for music, research and random web surfing, but for some reason I’m hardly on Facebook, DA (deviant art) etc. all those sites you post stuff at, like this one.  But I plan to change that with Blogspot. Since it lets you have more freedom, I really want to promote myself as an artist and help others with their art.

2) The genre and style of my art is a bit hard to describe except for the generic term of fantasy.  I draw cartoony and realistic people, places and things.  I use all sorts of mediums but my favorites are pen and ink, screentones and markers.  Since I’m still developing in my art, my style will change and I’ll experiment with different mediums.

3) I love comics; I read both manga and recently American. I think they’re both great.  The anime shows like Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing and Rurouni Kenshin inspired me to be a comic book artist. Also the good old super heroes, Batman, The Flash, Wonderwomen and especially Superman made a huge impact on me.  Even though I just got into the American comics, those guys have always had a special place in my heart since childhood.  I practice a lot in hopes of one day of being able to draw Superman for DC comics.  He’s my hero. Lol

With that being said, I have started my own comic at Smackjeevs here.  It’s something that I started when I was 13-14ish.  I held off on it for a while until I began college and now I’m redrawing it with all the new skills I’ve acquired since I started attending my art college.

Here’s a description of the story.

Kacey Turow, the infamous Azure Bandit, has made his way to the small village built around the large black obelisk.  He has just stolen a cursed orb from a powerful sorceress.  It was to lead him to the obelisk’s treasure but it has other things in mind for Kacey.
563 years later, Amy Karlagen is staying in the rural town Hopskin with her grandmother; this will be her last summer there before she is shipped off to a university by her parents.  She only has a couple of choices.  She could make it the best summer possible and cram everything imaginable in, but in the end would have to say good bye to everyone and still be miserable.
Or she could leave everything she knows and loves behind, all for that one special thing, the one thing that would make her life complete.  Her life is about to be intertwined in an unimaginable way with the man who left everything behind for his personal legend.
Will these two achieve their dreams … or die trying?  With the help of friends and a little bit of faith in each other, these two will embark on an adventure that has no bounds and will push them to their breaking point.
